THEOCUS demonstrates new commitment to growth

The Eastern Orthodox Church, as the unchanged Church of the New Testament, has much to offer our country and our local communities. Jesus Christ gave us the Great Commission to go out and make disciples of all the nations. Growth is a priority of our diocese and its leadership.

In carrying out this mission, the Holy Eastern Orthodox Church of the United States is establishing a Mission Committee. This committee will be composed of volunteer laypersons from each parish or mission in THEOCUS. With the advice and support of THEOCUS clergy, the committee will serve the mission of the diocese though various activities including but not limited to Visitor Follow-up, serving as a contact point for inquirers, a liaison between potential mission plants and the Bishops, and share ideas among THEOCUS parishes.

Membership on the committee is a volunteer basis. Local committee members serve under the guidance of their parish clergy. The Mission Committee as a whole is under the jurisdiction of the Bishops.
